Our funeral directors have been serving families for many years. Mowell, Jr. started Carl J Mowell & Son Funeral Home with his father, Carl Mowell Sr., in 1964. Before that he worked at funeral homes in East Point and Newnan.

CJ Mowell, Jr.
She is a Fayette County native and married for 36 years to her high school sweetheart, Richard. They have two daughters and three grandsons and reside in Brooks, Georgia. Devy Kleppinger serves as the Bookkeeper for Mowell Funeral Home. Faye Mowell, April Mowell, Devy Kleppinger, Alexis Rosado, Isabelle Hjemvick and Gina Gray handle all the administrative and office needs. All these men and women help us take care of the needs of each family.

This year, the FSS elves worked diligently to gather a list of Christmas wishes from 83 senior citizens who may not otherwise have received gifts this season. A total of 246 gifts and 48 fruit bags will be delivered to those participating in the program. Santa, with the help of Fayette Senior Services and generous community supporters, spread the Christmas spirit early this holiday season! Through their annual Hope for the Holidays initiative, FSS organized, collected, and delivered gifts to seniors in need around Fayette County this past week.
Clint Gilpin is one of our licensed funeral directors as well as Todd Sinkus who bring over 25 years of combined funeral service to our staff. Ron Lee is our Preneed Counselor, ready to assist you in planning for your future. John Christopher is our AfterCare Coordinator, focusing on families as they take the necessary steps after the funeral.

He is also a grandfather to Grady, Alaynna, Everett, Noah, and Kendall. He graduated from Atlanta High School and Texas A&M University . Ron has a desire to help families before, during, and after a loss. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Chris Cumbie serves as the Manager of Mowell Funeral Home, as well as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He is married to Lora, and has 6 children, Cathy, Carolyn, Rebecca, Matthew, Anna, and Emma.
They have 2 sons, a daughter and son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. John Christopher serves as our After Care Coordinator. He came to Mowell Funeral Home in 2014, after 27 years of service for Delta Airlines. John is married to Cindy, has 2 sons, and 4 grandchildren.
D. Harris Funeral Homes offers a variety of funeral services, from traditional funerals to competitively priced cremations, serving Petersburg, IN and the surrounding communities. We also offer funeral pre-planning and carry a wide selection of caskets, vaults, urns and burial containers. Ron Lee is licensed as a pre-need sales counselor and licensed life insurance sales person for the State of Georgia. He was previously a funeral director and pre-need counselor for a combined 38 years in Texas, Missouri, Illinois and Louisiana. Ron is married to Rebecca and has 4 children Sarah, Ryan, Suzie, and Ben.
Survivors include a sister, Christy Hayes of New Orleans, La.; brother, Dallas E. Smith, Jr of Spencer. For the price of a cup of coffee or two, you can help secure the future of The Citizen and its local coverage on your behalf. Paul Tommy Carroll has been a member of our support staff since 2015. He was in business as a Master Plumber for 42 years.
Navy and graduated from Forest Park Senior High School and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science . He worked in various funeral homes in the state of Georgia before coming to Mowell in 2005. Chris has always had a deep desire to serve others in their time of need. He is a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church of Jonesboro.

Unfortunately with the challenges facing our nation and our community, it’s never been more difficult to provide this as a free service. Pattie has been a part of the support staff since the beginning of 2019. She lived in East Point, GA until 2004 before moving to Coweta County. She has two children and four awesome grandchildren. Dawn Dickson started working at Mowell Funeral Home September 2016 as an Administrative Assistant.
W. Bee Huddleston, a native of Fayette County, has been working with us for at least 50 years. David Mowell was raised upstairs at the funeral home in Fayetteville and has been working full time since 1993. Chris Cumbie, who also has roots here in Fayette County and been in the funeral business for almost 25 years, has worked for Mowell for over 15 years.
He is a member of the Fayette County Masonic Lodge 711, the Yaarab Temple, and Fayetteville First Baptist Church. CJ is an avid collector of toy trains and clocks. Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home is a family owned and operated funeral firm serving the Marietta, Lowell, and Barlow areas since 1869.
